Description

CPI’s Solid State Power BUC Ka-band Outdoor Unit (SSPB Ka ODU) is designed for satellite communication earth stations, satellite newsgathering vehicles, and flyaway applications. The key feature of this amplifier is direct mounting to antenna structures—thereby eliminating transmission line losses encountered in conventional arrangements. It is designed as stationary equipment for operation in restricted access locations.

The SSPB Ka Outdoor unit consists of a Block Upconverter, RF driver, SSPA Brick, RF detector, RF output component, microprocessor driven controller, and cooling system. All components are contained within a weatherized shell. The standard model weighs 16lbs (7.5kg). Dimensions, excluding switches and connectors, are 6.43(W) x 12.5(D) x 6.35(H) inches [163 mm x 318 mm x 161 mm].
This equipment consumes up to 450W at Plin with a DC input voltage 48VDC with a maximum current of 20A. The state of the art power supply regulates power to the solid-state brick, microprocessor driven controller, and internal cooling system. The microprocessor driven controller simplifies the external interface used to monitor and control. The equipment accepts L-Band RF input and up converts it to Ka-Band. During this stage the RF input signal is also amplified.
